Leap & the net will appear

This would be my life if I had a jet pack.

A beautiful mid-1920’s bungalow, perched on the side of a hill in the city of Rochester.

Claude Bragdon hit his architectural peak in Rochester when it mattered most. There was a certain craftsmanship to the work of those that nailed the nails & flung the plaster in the post-fussy Queen Anne period; the arts & crafts movement.

This home, Bragdon’s take on a classic American foursquare in stucco, sits in the Upper Monroe Avenue neighborhood in Rochester, New York.

One element of interest in most of Bragdon’s work was his detail to the staircase. The staircase always felt like the core of a home. Where the rise felt monumental, almost intimate. The barrel-ceiling stairhall adds drama to this charming home.

Sometimes I forget how frail I really am.

“So, you found a girl who thinks really deep thoughts. what’ so amazing about really deep thoughts…”

“well I love the way we communicate. Your eyes focus on my funny little shape.”

Girl Behaving Badly [in the ratings]

..speaking of my ol’ blog, I was somehow naive or bold enough to score some interesting interviews back in the day.

One interview I snatched was of a comic fresh off an Oxygen spoof show called Girls Behaving Badly. There was something about Chelsea Handler that I was obsessed with.

Now you all are obsessed with her. I get it.

Here’s an interview I did with her back in ‘06

yes, I’m a Robyn fan. a HUGE Robyn fan. I like to think that the blog I created in the mid ’90s was a spoke in the online wheel of giving her a domestic fanbase.

She’s been a bit quiet lately, since leaving for Europe to tour,  but this remix preview of “Call Your Girlfriend” reminds you of why she’s phenomenal.

What I’m listening to:

Tracey Thorn - Falling Off a Log by Francin_e
Tracey started off in the early ’80s as the vocalist for the brit group Marine Girls. She later paired up with her life partner Ben Watt and formed Everything But the Girl. Yes, they did that one song about the deserts missing the rain. But hey, that monster hit takes care of the bills for the rest of their lives, all the while they still get to work on creative projects. Tracey’s done a few solo albums, while Watt has found his direction in house music.

I’ve been a die-hard fan of Tracey since I was a gay sophomore in high school. Everyone else was listening to Bel Biv Devoe, while I was listening to the loungey aged UK act.

Truthful Tuesday

I cheat. When playing the Scrabble iPhone app, I typically play while having the website Win Every Game up on my computer so the site can choose the best words to use.

Don’t judge. let Jesus.
